Emons Spedition from Cologne invests on a grand scale
On October 15, the ground-breaking ceremony for the new forwarding facility of the company Emons in Kenzingen, near Freiburg took place. On a 30,000 m² property, just under 3,000 m² of cargo handling area will be constructed for general cargo traffic.
With 42 gates, the new building will replace the longest-serving location in Freiburg. It creates optimal conditions for efficient process flows in the fields of freight forwarding, logistics and transport.

The roof areas are completely used in the interest of the environment. In addition to greening, a photovoltaic system with 550 kilowatt peak (KWp) will be installed. A geothermal heat pump is used to heat the buildings. E-charging stations are planned for bicycles, cars and trucks.
In December 2020, the plant is to be completed. The costs for the project in Kenzingen amount to EUR 13.5 million. Emons is also investing EUR 27.5 million in the two new logistics facilities near Offenburg and Bayreuth. More millions are being spent on digitization and the ongoing modernization of the vehicle fleet in order to further reduce emissions.
